From Educational Alliance and partially sponsored by Boys and Girls Club, we also have a full-time on-site director and assistant to coordinate all sports, arts, and academic enrichment activities.

$500,000 State-of-the-Art Middle School Science Lab (Starting Sept. 2007)

We are extremely grateful to City Councilwoman Rosie Mendez for her support for this capital improvement to our building.

3-Year $500,000 Federal Magnet Grant – Global Leaders (Starting Sept. 2007)

Our school is a serious contender to receive a federal magnet grant. Our magnet theme proposal is for Global Leaders. This theme allows us to expand our curriculum to a more international lens and connect with a larger global community, including a partner school abroad. The grant would enable us to hire additional staff and purchase technology and resources to ensure the successful integration of this theme.

Selected as a Mentor School by Columbia Teachers College Reading and Writing Project and the New York City Department of Education

Teachers and administrators from other schools will visit our classrooms and meet with our staff to discuss effective teaching practice.

Chosen to be a Host School by New York University for the New York City Partnership for Teacher Excellence

In addition to our NYU undergraduate tutoring program already in place, 10 select NYU graduate students will now conduct school internships each year and have student teacher placements in our school. We will continue our student teacher relationship with Bank Street and Teachers College, as well.

Selected by the Chancellor’s New York Leadership Academy to mentor aspiring principals
